Toyota Avensis

I bought a 7 month old Avensis in February 2007 and was disappointed to find it had been hire car and e-mailed you with my concerns. Your response
"Why not? They are usually the best run-in cars you can buy. A
variety of different drivers is very good for modern engines in
their first. Hirers don't wreck hire cars any more because of speed
cameras and the fact that if they damage the cars they have to pay
through the nose for it.
Just to let you know I have had 5 years troublefree motoring and loved the car which is my 2nd or 3th Avensis following 2 or 3 Carinas.
I am now looking to change and am tempted to stick with the Avensis - my only real requirement is room for two bikes inside preferably without having to remove the wheels (I dislike roof or rear racks). Budget £10 - £12K plus trade-in. Any suggestions?

Many thanks for letting me know. I like the latest Avensis, but with the 1.8 or 2.0 litre Valvematic petrol engine rather than the diesel. It has just been mildly facelifted, which might drop the prices of the pre-facelifts a bit.
