Vauxhall Astra won't start - what's the faul?
My 1998 Vauxhall Astra 1.6 petrol has started making strange engine noises yesterday. It sounds like an exhaust blow and rattle under 2000rpm, but cleared after acceleration. I pulled over and switched off the engine, but it refused to restart. Any ideas what the problem might be?

It could be a number of things, I would suggest you check the following:
1.CKP -crankshaft position sensor
2. The Ignition system
3.Fuel pump relay
4. Air intake/vacuum system for leaks
5.ECT - engine coolant temp sensor
6.IAT - intake air temp sensor
7.ISC - idle speed control actuator
8.TP- throttle position sensor
9.Injectors.
Rather a long list , but worth checking all of it.
