Car damaged while being sold on my behalf

I took my car to the local garage which they were going to sell for me. I parked it where they asked on their premises then left. The car was in perfect condition.

On Monday 25 Nov I went to the garage on a separate matter and noticed that my car was tucked away in a corner hidden by other cars. I went to my car and saw that the front passenger side door was dented.

I asked the garage owner what had happened and he told me that a lady had reversed her car into mine. I asked why he had not phoned me about it and why it was hidden away.

His reply was that the lady had admitted it was her fault, that he was in contact with her insurance company (Saga) and that he was very stressed! A few days later there was still no news other than he had taken my car to a accident repair specialist some miles away.

I visited this place and the man told me that he was waiting for Saga to give him permission to carry out the work. All this has been arranged without any discussion or agreement with me.

Additionally I have had phone calls from Saga offering me any amount and types of cars that I can have whilst my car is being repaired! What is my legal position?

All I wanted was my car sold ASAP with the money going towards helping our son and his family buy their council owned home. I do feel very angry and bitter that the garage have acted in this way and tried to keep this from me. Is there any legal action I can take against them?

It isn't the fault of the garage that some stupid woman crashed into your car. But even after repair the car has been significantly devalued. I really can't understand why you consigned a car like this to a garage to sell for you when you could have used www.sure-sell.info Defintely do not take a credit hire car because you may become liable for the cost. Tell Saga that you need the money now, so if they do not deal with this immediately you will use the small claims track of the county court to sue the woman for the value of the car prior to the damage.
