Can I expect DPF problems if I buy a Jaguar XF or XJ?

I am considering the purchase of a secondhand Jaguar XF or XJ about 3-4 years old, but from reading your various concerns about particulate filters, I am also concerned. My annual mileage is no more than 10,000, made up predominantly of short journeys. The XJ seems to have only diesel engines, which probably means that I should only be looking at the XF. I need your advice please.

There were 3.0-litre V6s and 5.0-litre unsupercharged V8s, but they were stopped. Now both have been replaced by a supercharged V6. Some drivers of diesel Jags have had DPF and EGR problems. Basically you have to use common sense. A DPF collects the soot of unburned hydrocarbons on start up, then burns them off later in the car's journey. If there's no 'later' it doesn't burn them off, clogs up and all sorts of problems start to occur.

Wonderful and bespoke feeling interior. Amazingly quiet and refined. More economical 2.2 diesel from 2011. Navigation not fitted as standard on most models.
A characterful alternative to the go-to German luxury saloons and far more engaging to drive. Diesel offers low emissions and tax but is very strong. Excellent overall refinement.
