Volkswagen Golf: Fault code p3008

My 2007 Volkswagen Golf is experiencing the engine warning light staying on, the fault code I am being told is: P3008 cam sensor signal. I have had the sensor replaced, but the fault still remains.

The engine runs fine and is suffering no lack of power, although it car starts with the occasional minor miss for about five seconds. Any ideas what this could be?

Is it using oil? That's the big problem with these engines, not helped at all by longlife servicing. For the chain and tensioner to remain in good condition then oil and filter need to be changed at least every 10,000 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first. Same goes for MINIs and BMWs. Longlife servicing causes most of the problems these engines suffer from.
