Renault Kangoo

Brief story about Renault Kangoo 1.5 dci. Glow plug light comes on when driving, power reduces, sometimes slightly and then it gets worse - until 5mph is about all it will do! Not good for busy roads or motorways so I have confined myself to back roads for last two years. The car has had six garage visits with a cumulative cost to date of just under £600 during which the following was done: accelerator pedal assembly was replaced, error codes cleared, air temperature sensor replaced, wiring loom behind throttle pedal replaced, error codes cleared. Each time it is fine for a day or two and then the same old problem returns. The Renault dealer in Yeovil is arrogant in the extreme and only cares about extracting money and not guaranteeing any work they do as a solution to the problem: the extent of Renault UK's customer service skills is to phone the dealer and ask them to call me - hardly a very challenging job. Tomorrow the car is going for its seventh garage visit, this time to an independent auto-electric specialist - I will keep you posted if you like. But one thing for sure, I will NEeverVER own another Renault.

If they can't fix it, the obvious thing to do is get rid of it and get something else. The 1.5DCI can have quite a bad EGR problem and is very oil sensitive. Sludge in then oil can block the vital oilway to the turbo bearing.
