Petrol 1.2 2008 - Vauxhall Corsa D Engine removal - stuartl

Hi. Following advice on here I have decided to replace the engine with HGF with a tested secondhand unit. I've changed a few engines but I'm reading conflicting reports about the way to get this engine out. Haynes say it has to come out underneath, others say if you remove front bumper, rads etc it will come out that way and others say it will hoist out the top no problem. I don't have access to a lift so hoping I can do it with an engine crane.

Best way is to drop the whole power train with the gearbox out the bottom. But as you’ve only got a crane , then it’s likely you’ll need to split the engine and gearbox in situ . Removing the bumper and radiators is probably a good idea whichever way you do it. Just gives more swinging room .
