Insurance: good news - Roger Jones
Here's something worth sharing.

I have just renewed the insurance on my MB E320 Coupé. For the past two years, Saga have won my business, after I had checked out at least six other sources on each occasion. This year the Saga renewal quote came through at a mere £12 higher than last year, which was surprising and pleasing. I almost signed up for it, but in conversation with my bro-in-law I discovered that his premium on his old Jag/Daimler V12 was astonishingly low. So I contacted his brokers and, lo and behold, their quote comes in at no less than £154.37 below Saga's, with the terms much the same apart from an extra £50 on the excess. Which broker? It's Specialist Car Division, PO Box 3203, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 4GG, telephone 01277 206911, fax 01277 206519.

No, I have no commercial connection with them. Yes, I'm delighted.

It's a strange business. One phone call to my broker this morning to enquire politely about the huge increase in my bill led to a saving of over £700 - with the same insurer.
I'm delighted too. I wan't yesterday.

Jesus! What are you driving that needs £700+ worth of insurance cover?
Re: Insurance: good news sometimes - UKC32
It's for 3 cars.
Nothing that exotic!

As has been said before, premiums seem to be negotiable rather than "Take it or leave it".
Re: Insurance: good news - Matt
Sounded good, so I tried them and they wouldn't insure my 306 as it's not a specialist or classic car yet anyway!
Re: Insurance: good news - Pete
I have heard that people working in call centres have to sell so many policies or renewals per shift and, if time is getting on, they can knock prices down as they come to the end of their 6 hours, or whatever it is the poor sould have to work. I have always found Frizzells/Liverpool Victoria very well priced, aprticularly if you can claim a discount for membership of CSMA. I pay £184 for full comp on an ungaraged 2 litre turbo diesel, protected no-claims, legal aid etc.

I have had some very good quotes from Athena Insurance (broker), for an A class mercedes, and fiat brava (different drivers)

Website: www.athena-insurance.co.uk

For my discovery, www.insure.co.uk was the best deal

Best to try as many as you can and take the cheapest!
