Thanks for that link - it doesn't change my mind at all (unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me either).
Another charity has chosen this friday for one of their local fund raisers and I'll be supporting them instead of Comic Relief.

I can understand people getting annoyed by it, but since the incident actually happened some years ago it would be counter-productive to bikers in general and NABD in particular to stir it up now.

I've never supported Comic Relief, or indeed Children in Need, simply because I take exception to the general view of its participants that it is compulsory. I have suffered verbal abuse in the past when I refused to give to a Red Nose collector on the grounds that I had already contributed. Put me off it for life.
