CV Show 2016: Ford introduces new engines for Transit and Transit Custom

Ford has launched a new 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine for the Transit and Transit Custom, delivering more power and torque but with improved fuel economy. Ford promises an average of 174g/km and 42.2mpg. Ford estimates that the average operator will save £1250 on fuel over 80,000 miles.

Three power outputs are available – 105PS with 360Nm of torque, 130PS with 385Nm of torque and 170PS with 405Nm of torque. All versions have start-stop and the latest in turbocharging, fuel injection and combustion technology to help improve efficiency.

Ford has also launched new safety technology for the Transit and Transit Custom. Pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and traffic sign recognition are all available, plus the electronic stability control has been revised to offer side wind assistance, better rollover protection and improved cornering stability.

Additionally, Ford is offering the SYNC 2 touchscreen system, which includes voice control, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and navigation. Furthermore, from late 2016 front-wheel drive Transit and Transit Custom models will be available with a new six-speed automatic transmission.
