I've heard horror stories about the Ford Transit Euro6 engine - are these true?

I'm thinking of buying a new Ford Transit Custom, but have heard horror stories about the new Euro6 engines. Tales of faulty injectors, constant limp mode, high AdBlue consumption and warning lights requiring oil changes plague the forums. Is this true or is it all nonsense? Is it a sensible purchase?

The Ford Transit Custom is one of the very best vans on the market right now. Easy to drive, efficient and practical, all versions will carry three Euro pallets while a useful loading hatch through the lower bulkhead allow loads of up to 3.4 metres to slot under the passenger seat.

That said, the 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine does appear to have had some teething issues, with reports of noisy idler pulleys and adjustments needed to belt tensioners. The oil light is also prone to coming on, but this is apparently a recall item and should have been fixed on new models. The number of complaints (we receive) has slowed, which indicates that these issues have been resolved.
