What's the best van-based MPV?

I bought Citroen Berlingo Multispace XTR a year ago. I love the concept and the space. It suits my country life and the two dogs love it but the automatic gearbox is poor. I am thinking of swapping it and would value your advice on something similar but a little more accomplished?

There are lots of very good van-based MPVs on sale right now, with our favourites being the Volkswagen Caddy Life and Ford Tourneo Connect: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/van-top-10s/top-10-van-based.../

Both are comfortable and available with automatic gearboxes. You also get a decent choice of bodystyles - five or seven seats – and petrol or diesel engines.

Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall are also in the middle of updating their van-based MPV offerings. You can read our first road test of these here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/peugeot/peugeot-ri.../
