I believe a campervan I bought secondhand has a gear selector issue, can I just ignore the issue or will it get worse?

I own a 2015 Ducato campervan 2.9 that I bought secondhand last year. In sixth gear, there's a rattle and the gearstick moves forward and backwards a few mm when I go on and off the accelerator. Sounds like a selector problem. Can I ignore it or will it get more expensive to fix if I leave it? Can selectors be changed in situ?

Gearbox and drivetrain problems are common with the Ducato, so don't ignore it. Instead, get it checked by a trusted mechanic. You can find one via our Good Garage Guide, here: good-garage-guide.honestjohn.co.uk/
