What's the best car for a surfer?

I'm looking for a used car that will carry a surfboard inside and is eco-friendly, reliable and easy to service, i.e. mainstream so parts are available. Estimate of 10,000 mileage per annum and my budget is approximately £12,000. A heated windscreen would be a bonus. I'm considering a Toyota Auris estate, Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia estate, manual and petrol. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks for your help.

All of the surfers I know drive vans. It might be better to forget the car and buy a Ford Transit Custom kombi. It'll have plenty of space for surf boards and (being a Ford commercial vehicle) will be affordable to service and maintain. You also also get a heated windscreen as standard: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/van-reviews/ford/transit-cus...3
