Can we drive our van without tax or insurance when we sell it?

My fiancee has a van which he wants to sell through “we buy any van”. He just wants rid of it so just wants a quick, no hassle sale. My question is whether we can drive it to the centre without tax or insurance? I’m pretty sure we can’t, but just wanted to check. It does have an MoT.

No. Not legally. A trader with an insured set of plates could drive it away. Or it would have to be trailered to an auction centre.
