What's the best 10 year old, short wheel base van?

Buying an old, high-mileage van can be a bit of a minefield when it comes to reliability because most are tired and worn out. That said, something like the Ford Transit might work: there are loads on the used market and most are relatively inexpensive to fix due to the huge supply of parts.

A 10-year-old Ford Transit will start from £1500 and there’s plenty of choice, so always buy the best you can afford. That means full service history and documented evidence to show cam belt changes and/or any major work. As always, rust is an issue, so always check the doors, sills and wheel arches as neglect is common on old vans.
