Volkswagen launches converter recognition scheme

Volkswagen has launched a national Converter Recognition programme for its range of vans and pick-ups.

The scheme provides access to dozens of Volkswagen approved conversion specialists and covers everything from mobile workshops, racking and refrigeration, to standard Lutons, dropsides and tippers. To qualify, a business must undergo a rigorous audit process and meet a number of technical conditions.

The Converter Recognition programme effectively extends the range of off-the-shelf and bespoke conversions on offer through Volkswagen’s dedicated van network. A three-tiered approach has been developed to suit the differing converter agreements that Volkswagen operates (registered bodybuilder, integrated partner and premium partner).

Integrated partner and premium partners are required to undergo regular, stringent converter audits to ensure the quality of the products available, as well as deliver minimum type approval certification for each conversion meaning all Volkswagen-converted vehicles will get the same warranty cover as the firm’s standard factory-built vehicles.

Volkswagen is also offering free servicing on all new Caddy, Transporter and Amarok models, including Transporter-based derivatives such as the Caravelle people carrier and California camper van. The offer provides one interim and one full service free of charge, which can be covered across two years and 20,000 miles of routine servicing.
