Hybrid vans generate strong bidding at auction

A bidding war broke out at a recent Manheim auction when two hybrid vans were put up for sale. The two used Ashwood hybrid Transits soared past their estimates as private and trade buyers attempted to outbid one another.

The first van to be offered at the Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicles auction at Manheim, Haydock was a silver example with just 17,000 miles on the clock. After frantic bidding, the Transit sold for 131 per cent of its CAP average, equating to an additional £2250.

The second van, finished in standard white, with 29,000 miles on the clock, sold for 125 per cent of its CAP average, equating to an additional £1775.

James Davis, director of commercial vehicles at Manheim, said: "There is no doubt electric and hybrid vans are still very rare in the wholesale van market. With the laws of supply and demand playing out I believe that canny dealers are now looking to stock something entirely different to draw in new buyers."
