Iveco launches new Daily

Iveco has unveiled the new Daily which gets a sharp new look and improvements throughout but still retains its strong ladder frame chassis. Both panel van and chassis cab versions of the third generation Daily will be available along with semi-window vans and minibuses.

More than 80 per cent of the components used on the new Daily have been redesigned with the aim of maximising the cargo space and making it easier to access. Thanks to a longer wheelbase there are two new 18 cubic metre and 19.6 cubic metre vans along with the 10.8 cubic metre version.

The rear overhang of the previous Daily has been shortened which Iveco says improves ride and handling. All models up to 3.5 tonnes get a new front suspension set-up called Quad Leaf while single-wheel models also have a redesigned rear suspension. This lowers the load height and improves cornering too.

Cargo volumes for the third generation Iveco Daily range from 7.3 cubic metres to the large 19.6 cubic metre version and the van comes in heights of up to 2100 mm, so that even tall drivers can stand up when working in the back. The largest van has a cargo length of 5100mm.

Both 2.3-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engines are available and both have been tweaked to improve fuel economy. Changes include low viscosity engine oil and low rolling resistance tyres. All models come with ESP stability control as standard and a Lane Departure Warning System is also available.

The cabin has been updated with greater comfort. There's a new dashboard, better sound insulation plus redesigned seats and a new steering wheel. Storage is taken care of with five closed compartments, three cupholders plus various cubby holes for items such as phones.
