New TDCi engine for Ford Transit and Tourneo Connect

The Ford Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect are now available with a new 1.5 TDCi engine which replaces the 1.6 TDCi in the range.

The new 1.5 TDCi may be smaller but it actually provides more power. The ECOnetic model produces 100PS and 250Nm compared to 95PS and 230Nm previously. It comes with an engine start/stop system and an active grille shutter as standard which help improve official economy to 74.3mpg with 99g/km CO2.

More versions of the 1.5 TDCi - all of which are Euro 6 compliant - will be introduced in spring 2016 and will replace the rest of the 1.6 TDCi range.

The same engine is also being made available in the passenger carrying Tourneo Connect. Two versions are available - 100PS and 120PS - with claimed economy of 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions at 111g/km. For the first time the PowerShift automatic gearbox is also available - on Titanium models.

The Transit Connect and Tourneo Connect are also both now available with new driver assistance systems including Traffic Sign Recognition and Lane Keeping Aid, as well as being the first Ford commercial vehicle to feature the much improved SYNC 2 touchscreen system.
