Nissan announces Primastar replacement, called NV300

Nissan has confirmed that the long-time-coming Primastar replacement will arrive later this year and be called the NV300.

No pictures or real detail yet, but the company has said that the NV300 (name as in ‘Nissan Van’) will be “all new” and have a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty.

“All new” is open to interpretation, however, as the NV300 will share platform and parts with both the Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic, the latter forming the basis for the outgoing Primastar.

As the name alludes, the NV300 will sit right between the NV200 and NV400 in the Nissan commercial vehicle range, harmonising the naming structure and killing off the Primastar badge; Nissan has also confirmed that its trucks will henceforth be called ‘NT’. No prizes for guessing what that stands for.
