CV Show 2016: Toyota gives all-new Proace its UK debut

Toyota has premiered the new Proace at the 2016 NEC Commercial Vehicle Show. The new van comes with Toyota’s five-year, 100,000 miles warranty and costs from £18,660 for the Compact, £19,285 for the Medium and £21,915 Long variants. From launch there are 95PS and 115PS 1.6-litre diesel engines, plus a 120PS 2.0-litre diesel.

The 95PS model manages up to 51.4mpg, while the more powerful 115PS version is more frugal, providing up to 55.4mpg. Respective torque outputs are 210 and 300Nm. Meanwhile the 120PS 2.0-litre diesel produces 340Nm of torque and has official fuel economy of 53.3mpg. Later this will be joined by a 2.0-litre with 150PS and 370Nm.

The smallest variant, called Compact, is 4.6m long, with a 4.6m3 load area that’s 2.1m long and 1.6m wide. When combined with the Smart Cargo system, which includes an opening in the front bulkhead and a folding passenger seat, load length increases to 3.7m. It is only offered as a panel van.

Medium length models have a 3.7m long load area not including the opening bulkhead, providing a load volume of 5.8m3. Panel, crew cab, combi and platform cab variants are available. Finally, long versions have a load length of 5.3m and a total load volume of 6.1m3. Panel, crew cab and nine-seat combi versions are offered.

Base models come with a speed limiter, fabric upholstery, power windows and mirrors, DAB radio, Bluetooth and a USB port. Comfort trim adds part vinyl upholstery, air conditioning, extra 12v outlets, Smart Cargo system, full wheel trims and body colour bumpers/mirrors.

Combi models come with nine seats, a driver’s arm rest, central locking, cruise control, glazed rear doors, stability control and hill start assist. There are various options available across the range including alloy wheels and safety systems like adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking.
