Can you give me some advice on buying a used motorhome?

We are looking at a used motorhome. Most of what we are looking at seem to be based on a Fiat Ducato diesel chassis. In general, are there any older motorhomes that could suffer from Dual Mass Flywheel problems? Do newer motorhomes have Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) like cars? When did DPFs start being introduced? I guess if a motorhome has a DPF, then because its driving style is different (plenty of long journeys), then it should suffer less from DPF problems. I don't know whether motorhomes are an area you know about, but thanks for your help.

Sorry, none of us are qualified to advise on motorhomes because we don't know enough about them. I can tell you that they are all built on commercial LCVs designed to do 200,000 miles in four years then be disposed of (as American rental RVs are). They are not designed to do 4000 miles a year and spend the rest of the time SORN'd in someone's driveway. This causes all kinds of problems, from condensation damage in the transmissions to snapped timing belts on start-up. A caravan probably makes more sense. It certainly makes more sense than towing a small car behind an RV.
