Why is the Nissan Qashqai diesel suitable for shorter journeys?

I was interested to see that you think the Qashqai 1.6DCI would be suitable for an annual mileage of 8500 with only two 20 minute regular journeys per week. I am thinking of replacing my X-Trail with a Qashqai, but having had to have the DPF replaced I thought I would have to go for a petrol version. Annual mileage over the last four years has averaged about 7000 and the car can easily go for a week only making several short (less than five miles) journeys.

The X-Trail 2.0DCI did have a DPF problem. The Renault/Nissan 1.6DCI is an entirely new design featuring exhaust manifold incorporated into the cylinder head for a very fast warm up, so it not only creates less soot, but disposes of it much more effectively.
