Check the documents

All vans should have a watermarked V5C document, which should match the van’s VRM (its registration) and its VIN (vehicle identification number), which will often be displayed at the bottom of the windscreen.

For peace of mind, you can purchase a history check, which will search the DVLA, police and insurers’ records to discover if the van has ever been stolen, involved in an accident or the subject to outstanding finance.
