Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles: Buying an approved used Volkswagen van

Approved VW used van sales are sold under Volkswagen’s Das Welt Auto banner. The scheme covers large and used vans for sale, along with pick-ups and dropsides.

Any Volkswagen used van or pick-up for sale can be bought via the Das Welt Auto scheme, although the length of the warranty is dependent on the age of the vehicle. Vans under two years of age are sold with the remaining manufacturer's three year warranty, while those that are older than two years are sold with 12 months' cover. Vehicles older than three years are sold with a six month warranty.

Volkswagen will take care of all of the paperwork checks, including registration, VIN, service history and mileage. They’ll also review the van's history through HPI or Experian for any outstanding finance, reports of plate transfer or record of theft. If something goes wrong during the warranty period, Volkswagen will cover the cost of repairs, replacement parts and labour up to the market value of the covered vehicle and there's no excess to pay.

Warranty period: Vehicles that are under three years old come with a minimum of 12 months Volkswagen warranty and roadside assistance. Vans older than three years get a shorter, six month warranty.

Age of vans covered: Up to six years/100,000 miles.

What does the warranty cover? All major mechanical and electrical systems.

Can the warranty be extended? Yes.

History check? Full history check. Volkswagen will also review the van's past through HPI or Experian for any outstanding finance, reports of plate transfer or record of theft.

Inspection? Yes. Volkswagen will inspect the van inside and out with a series of mechanical, electrical and visual checks.

Breakdown Cover: 12 months roadside cover.

Exchange policy: If your Das WeltAuto does not match your business requirements or if you’re not 100 per cent satisfied, you can exchange the van for another vehicle of the same or higher value. This exchange policy is from 30 days of the purchase for a vehicle under three years old or seven days for those over three years of age.
