Mercedes-Benz previews Citan van
Mercedes-Benz has previewed the new Citan van ahead of its official public unveiling in Hanover in September. The city van will be offered in three variants and three lengths when it goes on sale, but specifics of its gross vehicle weight, capacity and dimensions are yet to be announced.
The styling is recognisably Mercedes-Benz, with cues from the other commercial vehicles as well as passenger models like the upcoming A-Class. Similarly, the cabin is laid out in a typically Mercedes-Benz fashion, with logically positioned controls, including a high mounted gear lever.
Three diesel engines will be offered, with outputs ranging from 75PS to 110PS, and a 115PS supercharged petrol is also expected. Five and six-speed transmissions will be offered and will relay power to the front wheels.
The petrol-powered model comes with BlueEfficiency technology as standard and it’s an option on diesel models. It includes stop/start tech, battery and generator management and low rolling resistance tyres, all of which combine to reduce fuel consumption.
More details on the Citan, including more details on load space, weights and dimensions, will be available closer to the public premiere at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover this September.
