Ford debuts new Transit
Ford’s all-new Transit model has been unveiled to the public, and will be sold worldwide from late 2013. Power comes from a 2.2-litre diesel engine with three outputs, 100PS, 125PS and 155PS, all linked to a six-speed transmission as standard. Front-, rear- and all-wheel drive variants will be offered.
There’s a broad range of body styles – regular single cab panel van, double cab panel van, Kombi, Kombi van and bus, as well as chassis cab and chassis cowl version for be converted into flatbeds, etc. Panel vans are offered in three different lengths and with two different roof heights depending on requirements, up to a max gross vehicle weight of 4.7 tonnes.
Like-for-like, new Transit variants are around 10% larger than outgoing models, and the largest ‘Jumbo’ model is capable of carrying 15.1m3 of cargo. Improvements aren’t restricted to size, though – the cabin has been improved, with stylish instruments, better adjustment and more space.
Further details - like model specific loadspace, emissions and pricing - are currently unavailable, but will be announced closer to the Transit's on sale date in late 2013.
