High roof Ford Transit Custom now on sale
Ford has added a high roof variant of the latest Transit Custom to its commercial vehicle range. It offers 20% more space than the low roof model and commands a £500 premium, costing from £17,995 +VAT. The maximum load height is 370mm higher at 1.78m in the high roof variant as opposed to the standard version, with a maximum load volume of 8.3 cubic metres with a full bulkhead installed.
To increase rigidity and durability the roof is all steel, rather than composite. This means its capable of supporting a roof rack, too. Some of the clever features include a through hatch in the bulkhead to help with the loading of long items and reposition tie down hooks in the body sides rather than the floor, meaning it’s possible to hose down the floor.
There’s plenty of tech on offer including lane departure warning and a rear view camera. Running costs should be low - with a 2.2-litre diesel engine emissions are 178g/km thanks to start stop and service intervals are two years or 30,000 miles in an effort to reduce running costs.
