Volkswagen unveils Amarok Canyon

Volkswagen has launched a special edition of its Amarok pick-up. The Amarok Canyon will be limited to just 350 vehicles, but feature £3500 worth of extra kit as standard. Prices start at £28,990 and deliveries will commence in April.
Based on the double cab Amarok, the Canyon has five seats and a large open payload area, which will carry up to 1145kg. The limited edition pick-up will also get Volkswagen’s twin-turbo 2.0 BiTDI engine, although it hasn’t confirmed which power outputs will be available.
Boasting £3500 of extra kit, the Canyon should appeal to both commercial customers and lifestyle buyers alike, with satellite navigation and leather heated seats fitted as standard. The exterior of the Amarok will also be bolstered with large chrome styling bars and roof mounted spot lamps.
Volkswagen enjoyed a record year in 2013 selling more than 37,000 vehicles, finishing only second to Ford in the commercial market. However, the German manufacturer has high hopes for 2014 and wants to raise the profile (and sales) of its pick-up brand, which explains the bold, but limited launch of the Amarok Canyon.
