Volkswagen launches Crafter Luton
Volkswagen is expanding its Crafter range with the launch of a new Luton body designed in partnership with bodybuilding firm Ingimex.
Part of the Engineered-to-Go range, the Luton van is constructed using GRP sides and bulkhead plus a dip-painted and powder coated bolted frame. The finished bodies come modified for the fitting of a tail lift. The cargo area comes with a four-tier load restraint system plus there is a hugh-strength shutter door and a rear foor step.
The overall load capacity of the new Crafter Luton is 17 cubic metres while the internal roof height is 2120mm. Two versions are available - a 2.0 TDI with 136PS that is priced at £32,470 excluding VAT and a more powerful 2.0 TDI 163PS which costs £33,380 excluding VAT. The new Crafter Luton comes with a three-year warranty that also covers any factory-fitted add-ons.
2016 will see the launch of an all-new Volkswagen Crafter but unlike the current model it won't be built alongside the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Instead Volkswagen is investing in a new plant in Poland. The firm already builds the Caddy in the country.
