Renault Alaskan concept previews production pick-up model due 2016
Renault has unveiled its new Alaskan pick-up truck in concept form. With styling cues from the Captur and Kadjar, the Alaskan will be available to buy from late 2016 and will share components with the recently announced Nissan Navara.
The Alaskan is powered by 2.3-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine, as seen in the Master. Payload is one tonne, though other details about the dimensions and volume of the load area are not available.
The concept has large 21-inch alloy wheels and full-LED lighting, but the production model is likely to have a few of these details toned down or paired back. Expect smaller wheels, traditional lighting and no funky-looking purple details when the pick-up arrives in showrooms.
The Nissan Navara, which shares its underpinnings with the Alaskan, is set to make its debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show - and you can read about it here. The Alaskan will not appear at the show.
