Volkswagen Transporter Chassis Cab launched
Volkswagen has unveiled the Chassis Cab version of the latest T6 Transporter, available to order now from £21,265 ex VAT.
Calling it a “versatile blank canvas,” Volkswagen says the “range has been developed to complement the range of Volkswagen Crafter chassis and drop-side derivatives that are available through Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ ‘engineered to go’ programme.”
It’s available in single cab or double cab forms, with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, and only one engine, a 140PS 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit.
The top price for a double cab DSG version £23,980 ex VAT, which will carry up to six and offer a load space of 4.2m2, which increases to 5.2m2 in three-seat single cab form. Payload capacity is up to 1339kg.
Fuel economy ranges from a claimed 38.7mpg to 35.3mpg average depending on transmission and cab style, with CO2 set at 192g/km to 211g/km. Start/Stop, regenerative braking and low rolling resistance tyres are standard.
Given the relative lack of weight, the Chassis Cab is actually quicte speedy, with the quickest single cab DSG version posting a 7.6-second 0-62mph sprint.
The T6 Chassis Cab comes with DAB digital radio, a five-inch touchscreen multimedia interface, Bluetooth and a USB port as standard, while safety features include automatic post-collision braking.
