CV Show 2016: Fiat Fiorino gets facelift and improved economy
Fiat has given its compact Fiorino workhorse a raft of updates for 2016, with new bumpers, Euro6 diesel engines and lower running costs. The 2016 Fiorino will reach showrooms in late April and return a claimed 74.3mpg and 100g/km of CO2. It also retains its 660kg payload.
There are no details on pricing yet, but the engine line-up is the same as before with two 1.3-litre turbodiesels - 80PS and 95PS - and a 1.4-litre aspirated petrol. All of the diesels qualify for strict Euro6 emission standards.
Fiat has cut CO2 emissions and improved fuel economy for automatic versions of the 1.3 diesel. EcoJet versions with engine start/stop will now return an official 74.3mpg and 100g/km of CO2 when paired with the Comfort-Matic robotised transmission. Previously this was only achievable with five-speed manual versions. In comparison the 77PS petrol will return a claimed 40.9mpg and emit 161g/km of CO2.
Inside the Fiorino gets a new steering wheel with the option of remote controls for the radio. The instruments cluster gets new graphics with permanent backlighting for better visibility. A new, five-inch, colour, touchscreen infotainment system is also offered for the first time, with Bluetooth, USB/AUX port and navigation and DAB radio.
The Fiorino - which measures less than four metres in length - gets slightly refreshed exterior styling, with new bumpers and a larger front grille. Fiat has also added 15-inch wheel covers and diamond cut alloy wheels to the options list.
The loadbay is unaltered, with large rear doors that open to 180 degrees to a flat load space that will carry objects up to 1.5 metres in length. This can be extended to 2.5 metres with the optional folding retractable middle passenger seat, which can be used as a desk or folded flat to provide the additional load length.
