Volkswagen launches range-topping Transporter Sportline
Volkswagen has released details of the Transporter kombi Sportline, ahead of its arrival in showrooms in September. Priced from £36,295 (excluding VAT), the six-seater kombi features a powerful a 180PS bi-turbo diesel engine, sports body kit, lowered suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The range-topping Sportline sits above the Highline trim in the Transporter line-up and gets a number of upgrades, with LED headlights, 18-inch bi-colour alloy wheels and lowered sports suspension. The performance-focused appearance is complete with front and rear spoilers, flanked by chrome styling bars.
Inside, the Transporter kombi Sportline gets embossed leather seats, automatic air conditioning, touchscreen navigation and Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, which will allow the driver to access their phone via the infotainment display. Front and rear parking sensors are also fitted as standard, along with wing mirror mounted puddle lights and LED taillights.
The Transporter kombi Sportline will be offered with just one engine - a bi-turbo 2.0-litre diesel - with 180PS. There are no official figures for 0-62mph or economy figures, but Volkswagen has confirmed that the Kombi Sportline will be automatic only, with power delivered to the front-wheels via a seven-speed DSG gearbox.
A Transporter Sportline panel van will be available from 2017, along with a more powerful 204PS version of the bi-turbo engine. A long wheel base version is also expected, along with the option of a six-speed manual gearbox.
