Nissan launches NV300 panel van

Nissan has revealed its new mid-size panel van. The NV300 will cost in the region of £24,000 and be available as a panel van, crew cab or combi, with the latter seating up to nine people. The NV300 will reach the UK in November and be powered by Renault-sourced 1.6-litre dCi engines.

The Nissan NV300 takes much of its design and tech from the Trafic van; however, unlike the Renault, the Nissan gets a more comprehensive five-year/100,000 mile warranty as standard. Available in two lengths and two heights, the NV300 will carry items of up to 3.75 metres (L1 version) or 4.15 metres (L2) in length.

All versions will be capable of carrying three Euro pallets, while payloads will range from 1100kg to 1300kg. All vans get a full-size bulkhead as standard and, like the Trafic, it will feature a load flap, which will allow drivers to utilise the space beneath the passenger seat. 

The engine line-up is limited to Renault's 1.6-litre diesel, with outputs varying from 95PS to 145PS. The most powerful versions - 125PS and 145PS - will use a twin-turbocharger, while the lower outputs - 95PS and 120PS - will use a single turbo. Official fuel economy ranges from 47.9mpg for the entry-level engines and 46.3mpg for the twin-turbocharged units. All engines are mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The interior features a number of features that will allow the driver to transform the cab into a mobile office, when parked up, with optional laptop table and clip board, plus mounting points for smartphones or iPads.  

The optional NissanConnect infotainment system will add a raft of tech, including navigation, DAB digital radio, Siri voice control (for iPhone users) and a rear view camera. A tachograph can also be fitted to monitor the vehicle's duration on the road. 

The exterior of the NV300 differs only slightly from the Trafic, with a V-shaped chrome grille and LED rear lights. Built at the Renault-Nissan plant at Sandouville, France, the NV300 is offered in range of 10 exterior colours, while 16-inch steel rims will be fitted as standard.
