Ford adds special editions to Transit Custom range for 2017
Ford has revealed two new special editions for the Transit Custom panel van. The Colour Edition and Sport series models provide greater personalisation options for buyers, with the choice of bodykits, special paint schemes and racing stripes. Pricing is still to be confirmed, but order books will open in early 2017.
The Transit Custom Sport series adds a bodykit, with wheel arch extensions and colour-coded bumpers and door mirrors. Twin bonnet stripes complete the look, along with silver and black 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside the van gets partial leather seats and Ford's latest Sync smartphone connectivity.
Power comes from the standard 170PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine, with a six-speed manual gearbox, although handling is improved with thicker anti-roll bars and firmer damper settings. Ford’s latest six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission is also available as an option on selected models.
The Transit Custom Sport series is no longer limited to single, cab short-wheelbase versions. This means you can get the sporty look on double cab models and Tourneo Custom.
Colour Editions are limited to short-wheelbase panel vans only and add contrasting roof paint schemes, mirror caps, skid plates and side stripes, along with unique black 17‑inch alloy wheels. Limited to just 400 vans, Colour Editions can be specified in Race Red, Deep Impact Blue and Frozen White with Jet Black contrasts, and Shadow Black with Race Red contrasts.
Like the Sports series, the dampers and anti-roll bars are upgraded, while power comes from the 170PS four-cylinder EcoBlue diesel engine. Claimed economy for the 2.0-litre unit is 44.8mpg, while emissions are 167g/km of CO2.
Deliveries for the special editions will commence in the spring 2017, with pricing to be confirmed before the end of 2016.
