Land Rover launches all-new Discovery Commercial
Land Rover is launching a commercial version of the Discovery SUV. Available to order now, from £40,629 + VAT, the van-like 4x4 will provide 1856 litres of loadspace and be capable of towing up to 3.5 tonnes when hooked to a braked trailer.
As with the previous five generations of the Land Rover Discovery Commercial, the loadspace has been freed up by removing the second and third rows of seats; however, from the exterior, you'd struggle to tell the two-seater apart from the standard car, with privacy glass and plastic concealment panels masking the loadspace from prying eyes.
Measuring up to 1.6 metres long and 1.4 metres wide, the loadspace will carry 1856 litres of cargo, while the powered tailgate will accept loads measuring up to 1000 x 735mm.
The all-diesel engine line-up has two powertrain options: a 240PS 2.0-litre SD4 and a 258PS 3.0-litre TD6, with both linked to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. As you’d expect from Land Rover, four-wheel drive is fitted as standard and the driver also gets a raft of tech to help the Discovery power its way through everything from mud to snow.
Available in S, SE and HSE trim, the Discovery should provide the same handling and ride comfort as the standard 4x4 SUV, with air suspension fitted as standard. A trailer stability system will also be fitted, helping the driver tow up to 3.5 tonnes when connected to a braked trailer.
Prices start at £40,629 + VAT for the Discovery Commercial SD4 and £41,879 for the TD6. All models get DAB audio, cruise control and InControl Touch Pro touchscreen infotainment and navigation. Hill launch assist, lane departure warning and automatic city braking are also among the range of safety kit, along with a full-size spare wheel.
