Ford launches ST-inspired Fiesta Sport Van
Ford has unveiled the all-new Fiesta Sport Van at the NEC CV Show in Birmingham. The hot hatch-inspired panel van will reach showrooms in the autumn with prices starting in the region £14,000, excluding VAT.
Based on the Ford Fiesta passenger car, the 2018 van conversion sees the rear seats removed to create 1.0 cubic metre of space with a load length of 1.3 metres. The van gets a flat floor with a tough rubber covering and tie-down hooks. It boasts a cargo capacity of 500kg, for light haulage work.
Powertrains include petrol and diesel, with the latter comprising of Ford’s familiar 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine with 120PS. A 125PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine is also available. Claimed economy will mirror the passenger car with the three-cylinder petrol returning roughly 66mpg and the diesel provide as much as 80mpg. All of the engines will be Euro6 compliant, which makes them exempt from urban pollution charges.
The three-door van is available in standard or sport trim, with the hot hatch-inspired Sport Van expected to make up the majority of sales. Like the Fiesta ST the van gets a rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels, plus colour coded rocker panels.
Ford’s latest Sync3 infotainment system is also fitted as standard, with an 8.0-inch colour touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity. The sporty themes continues inside with a flat bottomed steering wheel and aluminium pedals.
Like the passenger car, the Fiesta Van gets a comprehensive array of semi-autonomous tech, including automatic city braking, adaptive cruise control and a blind spot warning system. The van also showcases FordPass Connect to provides live traffic updates for the navigation system. The driver can also download an app for their smartphone to open the doors, locate the vehicle in a car park and monitor tyre pressures, oil level and fuel.
Heated seats and steering wheel will be available as options, and full prices and specs will be revealed when order books for the Fiesta Sport Van open in the summer.
