The Renault Trafic E-Tech will be offered with two body lengths and two roof heights, priced from £34,500 (+ VAT) after the Plug-In Van Grant.

The two lengths are M and L, at 5.08 metres and 5.48 metres respectively, with cargo capacity between 5.8 and 8.9 cubic metres depending on variant. The maximum payload on offer is 1222kg, while the model also has a 920kg braked towing capacity.

It will be the third E-Tech model in the Renault line-up, alongside the Renault Kangoo E-Tech and new Renault Master E-Tech.

Upfront, the E-Tech is the same as the standard Renault Trafic and retains its ‘Mobile Office’, which uses the middle passenger seat as a folding table with detachable A4 clipboard and laptop storage.

Standard equipment includes an Easy Link display with 8-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, full LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs and heated electrically adjustable door mirrors. The Trafic E-Tech also comes with safety features such as rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, intelligent speed assist, active emergency braking system, tyre pressure warning, lane departure warning, driver attention alert and drowsiness warning, along with a 7-inch colour driver information display and air conditioning. Options include climate control, heated seats, 360-degree parking sensors, rear parking camera, automatic high beam, automatic headlights, rain sensitive wipers, blind spot warning, and a range of door and glazing configurations.

Does the £40k VED premium apply to vans as well as cars?

I am purchasing a new Volkswagen Transporter van and having it converted into a campervan. The purchase price of the basic van is just over £40k. Does the premium supplement apply to vans or does it only apply to cars?
The premium tax rate for cars over £40,000 doesn't apply to light goods vehicles such as vans. So if you're buying a new Euro 5 compliant van, the annual tax rate is currently £140. There is a different system for campervans but as you're buying a van to convert, rather than buying a campervan or motorhome, these rates won't apply.
