New Toyota Proace Max now on sale

Toyota has opened the order books for its new Proace Max, which it claims to be its first heavy-duty van.

The new model is part of Toyota’s shared venture with Stellantis and shares its bodywork and engines with models such as the Peugeot Boxer and Vauxhall Movano.

It comes with a choice of battery electric or diesel power, with the battery model developing 270PS and 410Nm of torque. It has a WLTP driving range of up to 260 miles, with three driving modes and multi-level regenerative braking controlled by steering wheel paddles.

The electric Toyota Proace Max has a 110kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged from 10 to 80% in 55 minutes with a 150kW fast-charging system. All variants are equipped with an on-board 11kWh AC onboard charger for business or home charging.

Diesel models are all powered by a 140PS 2.2-litre engine with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.

The diesel-powered models have a gross weight of 3.5 tonnes and electric versions 4.25 tonnes, subject to licence derogation. Two body lengths and two heights are offered, with load volumes ranging from 11.5 to 17 cubic metres. All are ply-lined as standard.

What is the best used van for £7000?

What is the best van to buy? I have £7000 give or take and want cheep insurance and tax, reliable and low cost repairs. Not sure what make to go for but it's for private use.
If you're looking for a van to use privately with your budget, then we'd consider a late 2000s Volkswagen Transporter. They hold their value better than models such as the Ford Transit and Vauxhall Vivaro, and are more upmarket and comfortable to drive, with a decent reliability record. If you're not too fussed about image, another great van for private use would be a Toyota HiAce of a similar vintage, again because they are exceptionally reliable and good to drive.
