Vauxhall Movano Hydrogen nears production

The long-awaited hydrogen-powered derivative of the Vauxhall Movano large van will make its debut at the IAA Transportation Show in Hannover, Germany, in September 2024.

This new zero-emission model uses hydrogen fuel cells instead of plug-in battery technology and is set to go on sale early in 2025 alongside a hydrogen-powered version of the medium-sized Vauxhall Vivaro.

Technical specifications will be confirmed at the show but we anticipate a driving range of around 300 miles and a refuelling time of five minutes, making it little different to a diesel-powered model in terms of usability.

In Europe it will wear Opel badges and will sell alongside a hydrogen variant of the Citroen Relay, but for the UK only the Vauxhall version will be offered in right-hand-drive — initially, at least.

Working with Ryze as an infrastructure partner to bring hydrogen vans to market, Vauxhall is aiming the Movano Hydrogen at fleet customers, enabling the concept to be proven at scale.

The Movano Hydrogen will form part of a specialist display by Stellantis Pro One at the Hannover Show, alongside a range of battery-powered models including the Vauxhall Combo Electric, the Citroen e-Berlingo Crew Van, the Peugeot E-Expert Fridge Van and the Fiat Professional E-Ducato Cargo Box.

Can I get a van speed limiter removed?

I’m looking at purchasing a 67 plate Citroen Berlingo which currently has its speed restricted to 62mph. Is it possible to get this removed and at what kind of cost?
There are a few companies offering this service but we cannot vouch for their efficacy or the legal or insurance implications of doing so if the van has a factory speed limiter. One such option is https://bluesparkautomotive.com/speed-limiter-removal-service-citroen-vans Before investigating further you should check with your insurance company if they consider this acceptable practice.
