Dacia launches UK’s cheapest electric van

Dacia has introduced a van version of the Dacia Spring compact electric car, which has become the cheapest electric van in the UK.

The Dacia Spring Cargo is available to order now, with launch pricing of £14,995 (ex VAT). It is sold as a factory-finished van, with the rear seats removed and a mesh bulkhead. The result is a load bay of 1,085 litres and a payload of 370kg, meaning its appeal will be limited to light duty users such as urban couriers.

It has a 26.8kWh battery that delivers a claimed 140 miles on the WLTP cycle, with the ability to fast charge from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes. The electric motor has a 65PS power output and only one colour is available – Polar White.

Inside, it gets a a 10-inch display with Media Nav Live and Smartphone replication, Bluetooth, a USB port, cruise control, air conditioning, electric front windows, remote central locking, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, so it’s far from sparsely equipped, while it also features an electric power take-off system from which the user can power 240v accessories if needed.

What's a good small petrol van on a budget?

My son is looking for a van for work. There are lots of Renault Kangoo models for sale in our area, but they are all diesels. Can you recommend a small petrol van? His Budget is up to £3k.
Thanks to the ULEZ and other factors, older petrol vans are in big demand and tend to get snapped up quickly. The Vauxhall Combo 1.4 and Citroen Berlingo/Peugeot Partner are others to search for alongside the Kangoo within your budget.
