Isuzu reveals D-Max EV pick-up

Isuzu has revealed its all-electric Isuzu D-Max EV, which will arrive in showrooms in early 2026. It has the same towing, payload and all-terrain capability as the existing diesel pickup.

The manufacturer claims it will be the first pick-up in Europe to offer a payload of over 1000kg, 3500kg towing and permanent four-wheel-drive.

Using a 66.9kWh battery, the Isuzu D-Max EV has a 163-mile range (WLTP) and has a DC charging capacity of 50kW, enabling a 20-80% charge in less than an hour. An 11kW AC charge will take 10 hours.

The four-wheel-drive set-up uses an electric motor on each axle and develops 190PS, 0-62mph acceleration in 10.1 seconds and a top speed of over 80mph.

It also features multi-level regenerative braking and Eco Mode, which extends the vehicle range, along with water wading up to 600mm, ground clearance of 210mm and off-road approach and departure angles of 30.5 and 24.2 degrees respectively.

Based on a strengthened version of the Isuzu D-Max ladder chassis, the Isuzu D-Max EV features an all-new De Dion rear suspension, replacing its traditional leaf springs. It also comes with a Rough Terrain Mode for "extreme off-road capability."

Two trim levels will be offered, as well as extended and double cab versions. These replicate the grades for the diesel-powered D-Max DL40 and V-Cross models. Full details and pricing are yet to be announced.

The Isuzu D-Max EV will arrive in the UK in February 2026 with pre-sales starting in late 2025.

How much is the tax on my pick-up?

I am really struggling with the new road tax for April 2025. I want to buy a 2015 Mitsubishi L200 with 173g/km emissions. How much would I pay from April 2025?
The answer to this is quite simple – because your L200 was registered prior to 2025, it qualifies for flat rate Commercial Vehicle VED, which is currently £335 per year and rises in line with RPI to £345 in April 2025. It's only on newer models where tax rules become complicated.
