KGM to launch Rexton Commercial

A new van version of the KGM Rexton SUV is set to make its debut this year.

The KGM Rexton Commercial will go on sale straight away, priced from £34,995 and will be sold alongside the Musso pick-up truck. KGM says it will appeal to users who need all-terrain capability and towing capacity, with the ability to haul up to 3.5 tonnes.

Being a van, it also avoids the car-based benefit-in-kind taxation now applied to pick-ups.

Its load bay has been created using a full-height fixed mesh bulkhead and opaque, reinforced rear windows. The load area is carpeted, with an optional rubber mat available as an accessory. The conversion is GB type-approved and therefore attracts commercial vehicle flat-rate BiK and also qualifies for VAT reclaim and capital write-down.

The load area has 2.2 cubic metres of space and a payload of 700kg, with a traditional tailgate load bay which has remote electric opening. Hinged side doors allow access to items located towards the front of the cargo area.

Power comes from a 2.2-litre diesel engine, with 205PS and peak torque of 441Nm delivered via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its selectable 4WD system primarily operates in rear-wheel-drive mode but allows the driver to switch between 4WD: High (4H) or 4WD: Low (4L) when required.

All models come with Trailer Sway Control to enhance stability by detecting and automatically stabilising towed trailer movement. It has off-road credentials with an approach angle of 20.5 degrees and departure angle of 22 degrees.

Specification includes DAB radio, multi-Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for device mirroring, six onboard speakers, a rearview camera and TomTom navigation – all accessed via a 12.3-inch screen.

It’s available in three trim levels: K30, K40 and K50, all of which come with a five-year/100-000-mile warranty, plus six-year anti-corrosion and three-year paintwork cover, plus 12 months’ RAC Roadside Assistance.

How much is the tax on my pick-up?

I am really struggling with the new road tax for April 2025. I want to buy a 2015 Mitsubishi L200 with 173g/km emissions. How much would I pay from April 2025?
The answer to this is quite simple – because your L200 was registered prior to 2025, it qualifies for flat rate Commercial Vehicle VED, which is currently £335 per year and rises in line with RPI to £345 in April 2025. It's only on newer models where tax rules become complicated.
