Renault unveils trio of new electric vans due in 2026

Renault has revealed its Renault Trafic E-tech, Renault Estafette E-Tech and Renault Goelette E-Tech vans – three new electric models based on what it calls its new ‘skateboard platform’.

Using the flat, low, EV-only chassis, the three vans are very different in size and concept, but will use the same running gear and battery packs. Renault says the new vans will be available from 2026.

The trio of vans uses a software-defined vehicle (SDV) electronic architecture, developed by Renault Group, Volvo Group and CMA CGM. As well as improving the vehicles’ computerised systems, the set-up allows predictive maintenance and tracks wear and tear of key components.

The most conventional of the new vans is the Renault Trafic E-Tech, which is a mid-sized van that will sell in a similar market to the existing Renault Trafic. The use of the skateboard platform suggests that there won’t be an internal combustion version of the next generation model, although Renault is yet to confirm or deny this. If not, it could see the existing diesel Renault Trafic staying in production until 2030.

Sharing the same styling as the Renault Traffic E-tech, the Renault Goelette E-Tech is a chassis cab based on the same architecture, but aimed at converters. It was shown at the 2025 CV Show with a box body and roller shutters.

The third of the new vans, the Renault Estafette E-Tech, recalls a name from Renault’s past and is a tall, walk-through van with high roof capability and a roller shutter rear door. It’s said to be ideal for bulky last-mile and urban deliveries.

Further details of production models, specifications and pricing for the trio are expected in early 2026.

Can I get a van speed limiter removed?

I’m looking at purchasing a 67 plate Citroen Berlingo which currently has its speed restricted to 62mph. Is it possible to get this removed and at what kind of cost?
There are a few companies offering this service but we cannot vouch for their efficacy or the legal or insurance implications of doing so if the van has a factory speed limiter. One such option is https://bluesparkautomotive.com/speed-limiter-removal-service-citroen-vans Before investigating further you should check with your insurance company if they consider this acceptable practice.
