New Renault Trafic for 2026 revealed

The all-new Renault Trafic has been revealed ahead of it going on sale in the UK in mid 2026.

The electric-only Renault Trafic E-Tech is based on a dedicated ‘skateboard’ style platform developed with EV partner Flexis, with the battery located low in the chassis between the axles, to maximise loadspace.

While the company hasn’t confirmed battery sizes yet, it has confirmed that the new Renault Trafic E-Tech will come with a range of up to 280 miles at launch, while a smaller, cheaper ‘urban’ battery will be offered at a later date and will offer around 220 miles.

The newcomer will also be the first Renault to use 800v charging technology, which should allow the larger battery to recharge from 15 to 80% capacity in less than 20 minutes, minimising vehicle downtime.

The Renault Trafic E-Tech will use an electric motor developing 201bhp with 345Nm of torque. It promises a payload of up to 1.25 tonnes and a towing weight of up to 2.0 tonne.

Renault has said that L1 and L2 versions of the van will be first to appear, with 5.1 and 5.8 cubic metres of space respectively, while the overall height of the Trafic is 1.9 metres, meaning it should be able to fit in most multi-storey car parks.

The new van has a distinctive appearance, with an illuminated high-set badge and an angular front end, plus chunky lower body cladding and, on higher spec models, smart alloy wheels.

Inside, it’s even bolder with a digitised tube-type design, a 10-inch instrument cluster and 12-inch touchscreen, which we expect will feature Renault’s native Google-driven technology, in common with its car range.

WiFi connectivity will allow real-time remote updates, while the Convertor Companion app allows approved third party installers to update and customise the Trafic’s on-board systems to accommodate upgrades – such as blue-light conversions, additional lighting and other external devices. Vehicle-to-Grid capability means that the Trafic will be able to power devices via its battery, too.

Sales are due to commence in the second half of 2026.

Does the Renault Trafic suffer from AdBlue problems?

Does the later Renault Trafic 2.0 litre diesel suffer AdBlue issues as with the earlier 1.6 diesel?
There is a known issue with AdBlue sensors in Renault Traffic 2.0-litre and 1.6-litre diesels, but the problem is usually easily and inexpensively rectified with a new sensor. The 2.0-litre engine is otherwise pretty reliable.
