New Mitsubishi L200 2026: Summer release date confirmed with expected £33k price tag

Mitsubishi has confirmed that the Mitsubishi L200 pickup — once the UK’s best-selling pick-up truck — will be returning to the UK in the summer of 2026.

The L200 will make its debut alongside the new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, with both models initially arriving in limited numbers as Mitsubishi resumes UK sales.

The company is working with IM Group, which already imports the Isuzu D-Max and GWM Poer 300 pickup. Dealers are currently being recruited, with announcements expected shortly on locations and remaining open points.

The new Series 7 Mitsubishi L200 is already on sale in global markets and features a redesigned exterior and a significantly updated cabin. It’s offered exclusively with a 2.4-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, expected to produce 204PS and 470Nm of torque.

It will feature Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system, with selectable two- and four-wheel drive, centre differential lock, low-range gearing and seven drive modes: Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock.

Sharon Townsend, Head of Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, says the L200 remains a “much-loved and respected model, with significant design, technology, and performance upgrades over its predecessor.”

Estimated pricing (excluding VAT)

Entry-level (Double Cab): Expected to start around £33,000 - £35,000.

High-spec (Barbarian/Top Trims): Likely to push toward £42,000 - £45,000.

Final pricing, specifications and UK on-sale timings for the Mitsubishi L200 will be confirmed closer to the brand’s relaunch in the summer.

Is there a known issue with Ford Ranger gearboxes?

I purchased an ex demo 2021 Ford Ranger in 2023 from a Ford Dealer. It has 31000 miles on the clock today, FSH and at the weekend the gearbox failed. Dealer says £5300 to replace, so I took it up with Ford Customer Care and got nowhere and they referred me back to the dealer and said it was down to them. I was told the gearbox oil does not have to be checked until 40,000 miles and even then the gearbox itself does not need to be inspected until 10 years old or 150,000 miles. They wont budge and have given me until Friday to authorise replacement gearbox or pick it up? Where do I stand on this please?
Which gearbox is fitted to your Ranger? There are some know issues with the automatic models where some customers have received a partial goodwill gesture from Ford, but there is no guarantee on this. In the first instance, we'd take the truck to a gearbox specialist to see if it has failed, or if it just needs repairs.
