Volvo enters UK van market with all-electric EX30 Cargo

Volvo has announced its first-ever van for the UK market, with the launch of its fully electric Volvo EX30 Cargo.

Priced from £36,010, the car-derived van has a cargo bay created by replacing the rear seats with a fixed floor, delivering a payload of 390kg and a load capacity of 1000 litres.

A bespoke bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo area, while modified side panels and doors increase available load volume.

Converted in-house by Volvo Car UK, the new model is available in two variants: the EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo, with additional ground clearance.

Motor and battery choices are the P3 (152PS) or P5 (276PS) Extended Range with a 300 mile range. Or the P5 with the standard range of 214 miles. A flagship P8 (434PS) with AWD is also offered on the Cross Country.

Two trim levels are available: Core and Plus, with the Cross Country only available in Plus specification.

Standard equipment on Core includes Safe Space technology and Google Automotive Services, alongside adaptive cruise control, front and rear park assist, rear parking camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and automatic LED headlights.

Plus adds comfort, convenience and design enhancements, including Pilot Assist and Digital Key Plus, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated front seats and heated steering wheel, as well as dual-zone climate control and wireless phone charging.

While it’s Volvo’s first van in the UK, the company is no stranger to LCVs having historically sold ‘Cargo’ versions of the PV 544 and 245 models in Sweden.

What are the speed limits for small vans?

I am thinking of changing from our ageing Citroen C3 Picasso to either a Citroen Berlingo or Peugot Rifter. I don't want to get caught by van speed limits though and it's hard to find clear info. What are the speed limits for these types of vans?
Although both of these are small vans and the Citroen Berlingo is also sold as a passenger car (to which car speed limits apply) the van versions are registered as commercial vehicles and must adhere to van speed limits – namely 50mph on single carriageway roads, 60mph on dual carriageways and 70mph on motorways when the national speed limit applies.
