Foton launches in the UK with high-capacity electric vans and 3.5-tonne towing
Chinese brand Foton is the latest new marque to launch in the UK with a range of electric vans going on sale in the second half of 2026.
Partnering with International Motors Ltd (IML) — the distributor behind Subaru and Isuzu— Foton is launching with a focus on the light commercial vehicle sector.
It's headline model is the Foton eView Grand (picture above) an all-electric panel van featuring a 77.28 kWh CATL battery and a 1150kg payload. By offering a 3.5-tonne towing capacity — a rare feat for electric vans — Foton is hoping to rival established players like Ford and Stellantis.
Alongside that is the Foton eAumark (below), a fully electric light truck designed specifically for urban logistics. With a modular battery system and a competitive range, it targets final-mile delivery firms looking to dodge the rising costs of diesel.
The partnership will use some of International Motors’ UK dealer network to roll out Foton’s new-generation electric van line-up.
Foton, which has sold more than 12 million vehicles worldwide, says the UK is a key market in its global electric vehicle growth strategy.
Founded 30 years ago and headquartered in Beijing, its business includes medium and heavy-duty trucks, light-duty trucks, mini trucks, vans, pickup trucks, buses and construction machinery.
